Demolition of existing house and garage. Replacement detached dwelling, outside pool, gazebo and associated landscaping
The house the applicant wish to demolish

As we emphasised in our objection, the proposed removal of so many trees in order to facilitate development would adversely degrade the waterfront landscape, conflicting with planning Policies at both national and local level.

We noted that comments made by the Council's Tree Officer in his appraisal also clearly illustrated a number of significant material constraints to the development proposal, while East Portlemouth Parish Council had also raised concerns with which we agreed about the light pollution that would result from the replacement dwelling.

In addition we offered a number of examples of other developments in the immediate vicinity that has, we said, caused noticeable environmental damage. The various new builds, demolitions and rebuilds found on the approach to East Portlemouth beside the South Pool to East Portlemouth Road were ruinous to what was once a small tranquil lane. It was also obvious that these multiple damaged points were transforming the estuary shoreline.

The application was subsequently withdrawn.
