The Society today submitted its response to the Government’s Proposed reforms to the National Planning Policy Framework and other changes to the planning system.
Should all the proposals proceed as presented the impact upon the South Hams will be both damaging and profound. Many more green fields will be built over to accommodate many more homes, unaffordable to vast majority of local residents, with the Government persisting in its misguided belief that a discount of 20% off the open market value makes a house here affordable.
No realistic explanation is offered as to how the significant infrastructure improvements necessary will be financed, so more sewage is likely to find its way in to our waterways, our roads will become more congested, and the waits for GP appointments longer.
Should you share our concerns you have until 11:45pm on Tuesday 24 September 2024 to do so. Full details are to be found here.
