In the 17 weeks since October 28 last year Kingsbridge has now been flooded and/or sewage has spilled out of the sewers and on to the streets on no fewer than 15 separate occasions. Yesterday, on 23 February, the Society’s Planning Lead, and himself a Kingsbridge resident, wrote a letter on his own account to a number of public bodies, councillors and our MP to highlight the problem, which represents a major public health hazard.

His letter details the nature of the problem and its causes, comprehensively cataloguing and graphically illustrating each of those 15 events. It is a scandal that should not be permitted to continue. And those responsible should be held to account for effectively reducing Kingsbridge to the status of a third world country.

With heavy rains forecast for tomorrow we can only fear the worst.
