KINGSBRIDGE NATURAL HISTORY SOCIETY
Take a turn at slash and burn!
The KNHS need volunteers to help with cutting and burning reeds at Charleton Marsh. Help the landowner keep the reeds manageable at Charleton Marsh on the morning of Thursday 6th February, starting at 9.30 am. With hard work the group hopes to be done by 1pm. Volunteers will be very welcome to come along and help. No previous experience of arson needed!
This vital work to keep the marsh healthy. Just turn up at Marsh Lane, West Charleton. There is room for a few cars to park here, or you can park on the road leading off the A 379 beside the Ashburton Arms (now renamed the Charleton). If we have gone down to the marsh, just walk down to the bird hide, where there is a bridge across a channel giving access into the reed bed. Men will use brush cutters to cut the reeds and we will then collect the reeds into piles for burning.
