Society responds to SHDC’s proposal to limit the public’s influence on decision making

As a charity the South Hams Society is a non political organisation; however members will know and understand that a large part of the work that we do involves liaising with the local authority, especially on planning matters affecting the South Devon AONB.

Yesterday we took the unusual step of writing to all District Councillors to express our concern over the Council’s controversial plans to restrict public and Councillor input to decision making and for a reduced role for the Overview and Scrutiny panel.  Please find a copy of our letter here.

The virtual Full Council Meeting where the proposals will be discussed is due to take place TODAY, Thursday 23rd April, at 2pm.
