Help with hedgerow tree tagging

Dear all

Can you please help find farmers willing to identify and tag hedgerow trees this winter, to grow on to become standards?

One of our targets in the Saving Devon’s Treescapes project is to tag 12,000 hedgerow trees, to replace ash.  We would like to make a start this winter.  Can you help, please?

We are looking into sustainable (non-plastic) tree tags, possibly ones made of a wool-based product, but are not likely to have these available for this winter.  Any ideas?

Saving Devon’s Treescapes is part of the national Rising from the Ashes project, led by the Woodland Trust, for which a funding application has been made to the Heritage Lottery Fund.  A decision is expected on 11 December.  Fingers crossed!  But even if this fails, we can still go ahead with hedge tree tagging.

If you would like more information, don’t hesitate to contact either me or Pete Burgess.

Best wishes

Rob
